What we can imagine, can we make that for real? by Nadine

In the “real” world, anything is possible, but we don’t always believe it do we? We limit ourselves to what we have already experienced, or what we can see, or feel. But the truth is that we are creating our reality everyday, just the same way that film-makers are making movies.
We’re writing our script, and acting it out. If we want to change something, we can change it. We have that power. The movie Avatar is once again proof that being the observer, by looking into an illusionary world, we can often allow ourselves to be transported into another reality…

What does the Tree of life, and the God/dess Eywa in the movie Avatar have in common? by Annelies

Avatar is a powerful, inspiring film that demontrates movie-making at its best, and it delivers a crucial message for our time. The spectacular scenes make us question;
  • Are we too late to save the Sacred Forests of our planet?
  • Are we somehow superior because of our advanced technology and therefore have the right to force our will on those less advanced?
Avatar is set in 2154, and the human beings on planet Earth have an energy crisis and look to other planets to obtain what they need, just like today where the rich developed nations look for the resources to maintain their way of life from less developed countries, like those in Africa.
This is also a spiritual film, because the film raises  issues of who we are as human beings....

Which world would be the one you would choose to live in? by tulanda

If you love nature, and you love to see beautiful alien worlds depicted in breathtaking scenery, go to see Avatar. If you love action films, or a touching romance, or science fiction, go see Avatar. In my opinion, it is easily the best first film of this year, and perhaps even the best film of James Cameron’s career.
Wow, what a powerful breathtaking time we had, watching Avatar in 3D!
The love of nature, the interconnectedness between all living things, that even animals, humanoids and all plants, trees and flowers have these neural connection fibres, allowing all living creatures to “plug in” to each other’s neural networks. Many of the electric scenes reminded Hans and I of our own planet, which I will soon write about...

What does the word Avatar truly mean? By Tieneke

The film Avatar is an epic mythic hero's journey about human tendencies that have been all too real right here on earth, e.g. exploitation, greed, colonialism, consumerism, imperialism, environmental destruction, war, terrorism, injustice, xenophobia, etc. I loved the spectacular visuals in the film. I would  live there tomorrow and be big, tall and blue!
This plot driven story can be interpreted in many ways. ( Long long ago the humans, or 'laggards',)  which came from the sky in this movie can represent the fallen angels in our scriptures, or …maybe the more technically evolved visitors from our past that might have genetically mutated us genetically,  in order that we became their slaves. The fallen angels that the bible talks about are after all the 'sons of God'. in human form.
Avatar to many means God in human form.  Even the giants that are mentions in the scriptures, could very well have been a pre-human race that since have ascended from Planet Earth.  So many interpretation can be found in this Avatar story...

What is the goal of the Avator program? by Trevor

If you don’t go see this movie AVATAR in 3D, you're doing yourself an injustice. It's one of the most beautifully made 3D cinematic works I've seen so far.
This science fiction story reflects a lot of what is happening on our planet Earth in this time. The word Avatar, unless you already know the meaning of the word is a spiritual being who comes from heaven to earth and is incarnated in a human form. Then they will understand why in the film world anything is possible.
In the future, Jake, a paraplegic war veteran, is brought to another planet, Pandora, which is inhabited by the Na'vi, a humanoid race with their own language and culture. Those from Earth find themselves at odds with  the local culture, which is not surprising since on the whole we are not a very accommodating people.
The goal of the Avatar program is to allow humans to walk around in genetically engineered Na’vi bodies,.....

The man Jake, that lives in two worlds of experiences...

Have we opened the pandora's box (with this movie)? by Richard

Set 150 years in the future, mankind pitches camp on an alien planet called Pandora, a steaming, tropical orb-of-death filled with chewing teeth and tribal spears. Pandora, the name of the planet also has meaning. There are many variants of this story of Pandora (the giver of all). In Greek mythology, the most common story is when somebody’s curiosity gets the better of them. After they have opened  the pandora's box, relentless problems occur. This  is portrayed by  the main female role of Neytiri , when she brings in an outsider (a Human) into their community.
When she opened the pandora's box, metaphysically speaking, evils including death, disease and sorrow flew out of the jar before she could slam the lid back on.
The only good thing to come out of the jar was hope. What at first seemed to Neytiri to be a betrayer, turned out in the end to be their saviour....

Are some of our today’s movies showing us that time is slowly disappearing? by Toon

Avatar is wonderful big-screen entertainment. It uses astounding special effects tools to tell a mostly old-fashioned story and tells it very well. It is eye-poppingly gorgeous,jaw-droppingly exciting, and sharply acted.
It is a soaring adventure story that is remarkable in its construction. Most impressively, it actually lives up to the hype and delivers on everything that James Cameron has been promising us for the last few years. The first thing that crossed my mind as the film ended was simply 'Wow,....

Avatar reflect the greatest challenges of our modern world...

Is the statement" and the meek shall inherit the earth " proven to be true?by Mien

The movie Avatar, is speaking to the hearts and minds of viewers in so many personal ways, that I am starting to believe that this is a “sign” that our collective “awakening” is expanding to embrace a much larger whole. The overriding theme of Avatar is one of western Colonialism, where western nations use their military might to invade lesser developed countries, terrorize their people and pillage their lands for valuable natural resources. As the top military commander says in the film in response to the natives resisting their lands being pillaged, “We’ll fight terror with terror!” ....
