The treasure of Montsegur, what did it really entail?
Down through the centuries has come a legend regarding the treasure of Montsegur. A story is told of two men who were reputed to have escaped down the walls of the fortress, on ropes. It is said that they carried with them, away from the carnage, a vast treasure belonging to the Cathars. Some say that they were the keepers of the Holy Grail. Many fruitless hours have been spent searching for this gold.
